Governor General
50th photo exhibitThe year 2002 marked an important milestone. In 1952—for the first time—a Canadian citizen was named as Governor General of Canada, the Right Honourable Vincent Massey. To celebrate the remarkable Canadians who have served as Governor General – all from different regions and backgrounds, reflecting the diversity of our society – a photo exhibit was put on display in Rideau Hall and the Citadelle. This collection of 43 photos was built around three themes: On Duty, Real people and Going Places. They offered a glimpse of Canadian Governors General carrying out their duties with grace and intellect, proving to be a source of inspiration for Canadians and serving their country well. |
