| Senior provincial civil servant, then an M.P. and Minister of Fisheries the Pearson Cabinet, he resigned his Senate seat to serve as New Brunswick's Lieutenant Governor, a post he filled for eleven years. During his term he worked tirelessly to strengthen the bonds between the two linguistic communities of the province. |
