| Currently Chief of the Cardiovascular Surgery Division of the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, he is in the forefront of his profession. A skilled surgeon who pioneered open-heart surgery in Alberta, he is also a researcher with many medical innovations to his credit, including co-development of the electrical cardiac stimulator, forerunner of the present type of universally- used pacemaker.
