| A passionate and committed Canadian, she has had a brilliant career as an academic, politician and social activist. She was the first woman president of a major, co-educational Canadian university, Simon Fraser, that, under her direction, achieved growth and a national profile. Throughout her life she has been an advocate of social equity, for women and aboriginal people. |
