| During his 45-year career as a player, general manager, president and finally as Commissioner of the CFL, he worked tirelessly to advance the cause of football in Canada at all levels. His leadership resulted not only in the maintenance of a distinctively Canadian game, but also in the growth of amateur football across the country. |
