| Throughout his multi-faceted career, he has made unique and lasting contributions to post-secondary education, science and technology. Professor of mechanical engineering and a renowned researcher, he served in several senior administrative positions during his 25 years at the University of Waterloo. Joining the Ontario government in 1987, he served first as deputy minister of Colleges and Universities and later on the Premier's Council. Now president of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, he continues to promote excellence in academic research and innovation. |
