| Moved by the plight of children traumatized by war and displacement in the former Yugoslavia, she is the founder and the guiding force of the International Children's Institute. She collaborated with experts, as well as with local and international organizations, to develop specialized community-based programs and activities aimed at healing the psychological wounds of the innocent. The Building Bridges and Crossing Bridges programs address the needs of war-affected children in schools and refugee camps, as well as those of immigrant and refugee children in Canadian schools. |
| Deceased on September 25, 2005.
