Governor General to attend 10th RBC Canadian Painting Competition GalaSeptember 23, 2008 OTTAWA—Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Monsieur Jean-Daniel Lafond will attend the 10th Anniversary RBC Painting Competition Gala on Thursday, September 25, 2008, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. During the ceremony, the Governor General and the President and CEO of RBC, Mr. Gordon M. Nixon, will announce the national award winner as well as the two artists who will receive honourable mentions. The work of all 15 national finalists will be on display at the National Gallery of Canada. The Governor General will also meet privately with the artists at Rideau Hall, the following day.
