Outdoor Skating

The skating rink at Rideau Hall was originally built in 1872 during the mandate of Lord Dufferin, Canada’s third Governor General. Along with his wife Lady Dufferin, who soon became a keen skater, he organized many skating parties during his stay at Rideau Hall. Today you can step back in time and go for a skate on this historic rink.

The skating rink is open from January 5 to March 15, 2009, weather permitting. As this is an outdoor facility, the schedule may vary according to the weather conditions.

Operational Schedule:

• The general public is invited to come and skate on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 noon to 5 pm
• Organized groups of 20 people or more may make 1.5 hour reservations for the rink from 1 pm to 8:30 pm on weekdays and from 5:30 – 7:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm on weekends.
